From darkness to light. Filmed in collaboration with cinematographer Luke Zvara, the music video for "Great Escape" is a visual representation of the album’s core message: hope overcoming despair.

Shot in reverse across four stunning Massachusetts locations—from a gritty South Boston warehouse to a sunrise at Singing Beach.

the video stars Canadian Olympian Julie-Anne Staheli. Watch as she follows the light toward freedom, with the music serving as the narrator to her journey.

A look inside Looncry

The cry of loons across the water at dusk on a northern New Hampshire lake was the spark that started the fire to fuel this body of work. The visceral call and response of these creatures inspired me to channel significant loss and pain in my life into something beautiful and resilient.

The album explores a variety of styles and moods with a consistent theme of instrumentation and inspiration. Each song is multidimensional in its message, drawing on a range of themes and perspectives to create depth and meaning. The lyrical imagery is rooted in my faith and experience of nature in northern latitudes - from the rocky coastlines of Maine to the deep forests of the Pacific Northwest. The work is united in its ultimate message of hope and light breaking through despair and darkness.

The artist behind Looncry

Meet Erik

Erik Barth is a Boston-based independent singer-songwriter with deep roots in Northern New England. He writes songs that tell the truth - even when it's uncomfortable - exploring faith, resilience, grief, and the quite joy that can emerge through life's darkest seasons.

Warm, soulful, and rooted in folk traditions, Erik's music feels more like a conversation than a conclusion. Drawing inspirations from the rocky coastline of Maine, the lakes of New Hampshire, and the deep forest of the Pacific Northwest, his songs blend vivid natural imagery with deeply personal storytelling, creating space where doubts and hope can exist side by side.
